AbstrakPenelitian ini berjudul “Students’ Perception to the Activities of English Learning (A descriptive study on Students of Basic English 2 in Melody English Course, Purwokerto). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: (a) Untuk menemukan aktivitas yang disediakan oleh guru di dalam kelas Basic English 2, (b) Untuk menemukan aktivitas-aktivitas yang lebih disukai siswa di kelas Basic English 2, (c) Untuk menggambarkan persepsi siswa terhadap aktivitas pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di kelas Basic English 2. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data di jelaskan menggunakan penjelasan deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan kuisioner. Hal tersebut bertujuan untuk mendapatkan jawaban yang berhubungan pada aktivitas-aktivitas yang disediakan oleh guru di kelas Basic English 2, aktivitas yang lebih disukai oleh siswa dan persepsi siswa pada aktivitas pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di kelas Basic English 2. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) dalam proses pengajaran, karena guru berhadapan dengan pembelajar muda, guru memberikan variasi pada aktivitas untuk menghindari rasa bosan. Ada 8 aktivitas utama yang disediakan oleh guru di kelas Basic English 2. Aktivitas tersebut adalah mengerjakan soal latihan, mendengarkan dan melakukan, mendengarkan dan mengulangi, mendengarkan dan menulis, menggambar dan mewarnai kemudian membaca gambar-gambar tersebut, menebak kata, permainan dan bernyanyi, (2) semua siswa menyukai aktivitas yang meliputi menggambar dan bermain, (3) siswa-siswa merasa aktivitas di kelas Basic English 2 sebagai pengajaran Bahasa Inggris yang baik dan positif.
Abstrak (Inggris)This research is entitled “Students’ Perception to the Activities of English Learning (A descriptive study on Students of Basic English 2 in Melody English Course, Purwokerto). The purposes of this research are: (a) To find out the activities which are provided by the teacher in the class of Basic English 2, (b) To find out the activities preferred by the students of Basic English 2, (c) To describe students’ perceptions to the activities of English learning in the class of Basic English 2. This research used descriptive qualitative. The data were explained using descriptive explanation. The data in this research were collected through observation, interview, and questionnaire. It was aimed to get answers which were related to the activities provided by the teacher of Basic English 2 class, the activities preferred by the students, and the students’ perceptions to the activities of English learning in Basic English 2 class. The results of this research are: (1) in the teaching process, since the teacher dealt with young learners, the teacher gave variation in the activities to avoid boredom. There were 8 main activities that are provided by the teacher in the class of Basic English 2. The activities are doing exercise, listening and doing, listening and repeating, listening and writing, drawing and coloring then reading the pictures, guessing the words, playing a game and singing a song, (2) all the students’ preferred the activities that involved drawing and playing games, (3) the students’ perceived activities in the class of Basic English 2 as good and positive English Learning.
